On July 18, 2020, Cooper Markets and more than 40 volunteers visited the PKKII (Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Istimewa Insan) charity home in Kuchai Lama to donate much-needed daily supplies and electronic equipments.
Grateful to Cooper Market’s kind effort, PKKII’s founder Dr. Tiew said “This is a kind gift for the centre and most needed by the children. Our supplies were short due to the MCO, we have 65 children need to be fed and taken care every day so these donations by Cooper Markets are very appreciated by the centre.”
Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Istimewa Insan, or PKKII in short, is a charity non- profit organisation founded by Dr. Tiew 17 years ago to adopt and taking care brain-injured children suffering from autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), delayed development, and etc; most of them are from single-parent families or orphans.
The centre has been relying on donations from kind people in the community and volunteers helping to take care of the children. However, similar to the others, the centre also suffers from the impact of MCO. Volunteers are unable to visit the centre, supplies dwindle and donations were cut drastically.
Cooper Markets’s Chief Regional Director, Mr. KC Chua heard of their situation and launched Cooper Markets “Upon A Star” charity campaign with the purpose to give back to the community and the unfortunate ones in need.
